The sea produces 50% of the oxygen we breathe and absorbs a third of excess CO₂, making it essential for life and climate regulation.
Today, however, this ecosystem is fragile: the climate crisis, rising sea temperatures and pollution from plastic and discarded fishing gear are threatening its biodiversity.
Recognising the urgency of this situation, we are renewing our commitment to SEA FOR TOMORROW for 2026, building on our long-standing partnership with Worldrise, a non-profit organisation founded by Mariasole Bianco, to protect Italy’s seas through practical conservation and educational initiatives.

30X30 ITALIA ALLIANCE
To make a lasting impact, we are continuing in our role as Funding Partner of the 30x30 Italy Alliance for the second year running.
This coalition, launched on the initiative of Worldrise, aims to protect 30% of Italy’s seas by 2030 through the creation of new Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
This is a vital objective that forms part of the Blue Leaders’ international mission to protect the oceans. For us, supporting this strategy means promoting a culture of conservation that translates the institution’s vision into a future in which humanity and nature can coexist in harmony.

THE RECOVERY OF 'GHOST NETS'
This year, we have chosen to support the ‘ghost net’ recovery project coordinated by Worldrise, which involves a complex seabed clean-up operation in the Secca di Santo Stefano al Mare, a biodiversity hotspot in the province of Imperia, Liguria.
As a primary source of pollution due to their plastic polymer composition, these nets represent one of the most silent and lethal threats to our seas: once abandoned, they trigger ‘passive fishing’ that traps turtles, cetaceans and fish, whilst also acting as abrasive agents that destroy corals and sponges.
The operation, carried out by a specialist underwater technical team, enabled the removal of approximately 300 kg of discarded material, freeing numerous trapped organisms and restoring space for marine life.
